All About Maine
"Maine: The Way Life Should Be" is a popular motto, developed around the time when Maine celebrated its Centennial in 1920. Residents and tourists alike continue to be attracted by Maine's reputation as a piece of true America untainted by modern problems.

Many of America's wealthy citizens worried that the historic fabric of the United States was being lost in the midst of rapid urbanization. They looked to Maine as a place where the artifacts of American history still existed, searching for a romantic feeling of history and natural beauty.

During the 1920s the opening of roads in northern Maine made reaching the wilderness much easier. As cars became more affordable, many more vacationers were able to enjoy the Maine woods. Nature-lovers who could afford a trip to the Maine woods came camping, hoping that exercise, fresh air, and contact with a sacred and untouched wilderness would provide a release from their urban pressures.

Fish, hunt, stay, eat, camp or do any of the other things that life in Maine provides. It's The Way Life Should Be.
