Derek Ellis is a Registered Maine Guide, and a perfectionest when it comes to hunting. He's the bass fisherman, and specializes in bass fishing, canoe trips, hiking and nature walks.
From the Guides Desk: Southern Whitetail
I had a chance to go on a deer hunt, so I took the Kell's up on it. They were here in Maine in September on a bear hunt, and invited me down to their hunting grounds (what a hunt).
Seeing an average 10 to 20 deer a day with a bag limit of 6 doe / 2 buck, I could have easily filled the license! I took home 2 doe and 1 small 4 pointer.
Seeing the Georgia scenery, different style of hunting, and amazing hospitality from everyone I met was overwhelming. I was lucky enough to meet a wide range of Georgia folk, from the boy's from the club to local land owners. One lady I will always remember is Nell Smith, a Southern Bell in my book. At a young age of 76 she has more spite than the wild bobcat that roam her land.
I want to thank everyone for a fine time; the Southern hospitality surpasses any place I've visited yet. Thanks Bill and Dwayne Kell!

Just wanted to say thanks again to you and your buddy for the moose hunt even though it was a short one. We can't wait until we can come back to Maine for bear and deer! We will sure pass out your cards at the hunting clubs here. Tell your wife you are a pretty good cook!
